Without Alarm II was an exhibit in which artists created installations and projection pieces that were shown in the decaying cells of the old Lincoln Heights Jail in Los Angeles.
As a kid, I used to spend my time after school in the basement of the Sheriff station (my father’s office) looking through mugshots which were filed in what resembled small recipe boxes. I of course, jumped at the chance to work on this project for The Arroyo Arts Collective.
The booklet leans towards the early graphic sensibility of record keeping, which was mainly xerox and microfiche, and uses photographs and forms from the actual jail to describe the exhibits.
